Is algae oil safe?

The algae Schizochytrium sp. belongs to a family called Chromista, which is not related in any
way to any toxic algae species. The oil has been consumed by humans for over 25 years without
significant adverse effects. A few individuals experience occasional intestinal discomfort
and nausea when taking oils.
