Is the olive oil cold-pressed, and what does it really mean?

The olive oil used in Balance products is an extra virgin olive oil which is collected from the first cold pressing (top quality). Cold pressing means that minimal heat is involved when the oil is squeezed from the olive fruit using only pressure. In this way the oil contains most of the minor components and antioxidants that normally are lost by heating, solvent extraction and refining of the oil.
