How is the purification/refinement process set up to make sure food quality requirements are met?

The fish oil used in the Zinzino blend is derived from short-lived, small pelagic fish. The crude oil is extracted by cooking, and then further refined at LYSI.

Refining comprises the following steps
Neutralization: Removes free fatty acids, improves taste. Bleaching: Reduces color, removes contaminants.

Winterization: Improves clarity at low temperatures.

Deodorization: Removes volatiles (compounds with strong taste and contaminants). This makes the products palatable and guarantees it complies with regulations for maximum levels of contaminants.

  • So, the fish oil in your product is heat extracted, not cold extracted? Doesn't this affect the quality of the EPA/DHA in the fish oil? Are there chemicals used in the various refining processes?
